The studio is actively working towards a ISO 14064 accreditation, one of the most ambitious net zero certifications available.
We're targeting the International WELL Building Standard – Platinum accreditation, focusing on ten concepts that enhance people’s wellbeing, such as air quality, nourishment and community.
The namesake of our building, Bartolomeo Cristofori, invented the piano in 1709. The space was a concert hall in a past life and you can still see the musical references in the doors today.
Sensors record data about the space, which is held in our digital twin. Our design, strategy and engineering teams can call on that data for analysis and turn it into action – reducing energy consumption, giving people more control over their environment, or adapting the space to be more efficient.
We are monitoring air quality, occupancy, population, noise, energy use, electricity production, real-time operational carbon footprint, water, light level, colour temperature and access.
We're capturing real-time electricity usage data at the distribution board with a Netvox250 Amp 3 phase clamp. Most energy is coming from on-site renewables (solar). We keep an eye on historical energy use through quarterly reports. It’s all part of our journey to reduce consumption.
When traditional power sockets aren’t readily available, battery packs will keep your laptop running smoothly for 8 to 10 hours. Stay connected and roam freely throughout the space!
Our construction team crafted a new top for our samples table using the old kitchen island. The joinery is rehomed from a client project where it was no longer needed.
Our designers and sustainability experts carefully vetted all finishes, from flooring to wall coverings, to ensure they align with WELL guidelines.
There's a device fixed to our fresh water supply which tracks water flow and provides crucial data in quarterly reports. It guides us toward sustainable consumption and helps us meet our net-zero commitments.
Our lighting is controlled by an innovative Molex PoE (Power over Ethernet) system. We can manage the lighting, adapt the schedule, and more through a simple web interface.
We’ve preserved the original parquet, sanded and polished to its former glory. All new flooring has certifications in line with the WELL Building Standard.
Individual lighting provides control and supports any sensory requirements. Additionally, we can easily update the layout without also needing to change the lighting system.
Repurposed orange bike crates serve as storage boxes. They are made from 100% recycled polypropylene - and fortunately come in our brand colour!
We’re assessed based on ten concepts (air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind, community and innovation) over the next year to achieve our WELL certification.
Get away for a moment. For meditation, prayer, parenting or just a bit of time on your own.
The acoustic ceiling spray is GREENGUARD Gold Certified for Indoor Air Quality, contributing to our sustainable design and health certification systems.
Air quality sensors placed throughout the studio monitor everything from PM10 & 2.5 (those horrible particles), CO² levels, TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds), temperature, humidity, to the ambient light in our workspace.
